WhatsApp user name : Meta-owned WhatsApp is reportedly working on the feature to set WhatsApp user name, allowing users to choose a unique user name for their account. Currently in development phase. This feature is expected to be introduced in future updates of the popular instant messaging app. WABetaInfo said in its report, “After installing the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.11.15 update from the Google Play Store, we noticed an important feature during our usual search for new builds.
This option will be available in settings
A screenshot shared by WABetaInfo shows that WhatsApp is working on introducing a username feature within the app settings. Users will be able to access this feature through the WhatsApp Settings menu, specifically in the Profile section. By selecting the user name, the user contact will not be identified by number alone. Instead, they will have the option to create a unique and easy-to-remember username.
Phone number will not be needed in future
According to the report, WhatsApp users can soon start conversations with others by entering their chosen username without the need to know their phone numbers. The specifics of how usernames will work on WhatsApp are still unclear, but it is expected that conversations initiated using usernames will be secure through the app’s strong end-to-end encryption. Which ensures that user privacy and data security will remain the biggest priority.
Although this feature is still in the development phase, it is anticipated that beta testers will get the opportunity to try it in the near future. According to this report, the instant messaging application is also releasing a new interface for the group settings screen. Currently this feature is available for some beta testers.
According to the report, the new interface is more clear and intuitive than before. Instead of opening an additional window every time an option is selected, it is now possible to activate or deactivate it directly from the screen by toggling a switch, saving time.
